Anti Freezing Admixture.
“Sunanda Speciality Coatings Pvt. Ltd.” has developed & introduced an innovative tailor made product “‘SUN D FROST’ for such climatic conditions. The basic characteristic of this chemical (further read as SDF) is to ensure that water present in concrete will remain as water and will avoid ice formation even if the ambient temperature goes below 0 degree Celsius.

SUN D FROST has no role in the strength formation of concrete. At the same time it does not have any negative effect on the hydration.

Anti Washout Admixture.
Anti-washout admixture (awa) is primarily composed of a long chain of polymers. When dissolved in water, the molecules of the long chain entangle, restraining the mobility of free water. Consequently, the viscosity of the solution increases. Upon agitation, the polymer chains tend to untangle and align in the direction of shear flow—the faster the agitation, lower the resistance to the concrete flow.

When the agitation stops, the awa polymer chains entangle again and the solution returns to its original viscosity.
This thixotropic effect of awa has proven to be the key in the performance of underwater concrete. Awa added to fresh concrete may not function properly unless high-range water reducing admixture (hrwra) is also present. Cement particles must be fully dispersed before awa can form the necessary bridging between them. The proper batching sequence is to add awa to a mixer after hrwra is well mixed in fresh concrete.
