GENERAL
Guniting is often used to line tunnels & other areas where a layer of overcoating with a cement sand mix has to be done. Such a layer provides a durable and long lasting surface.
To improve the operation to reduce rebound losses as also to build up larger thickness, admixtures termed “guniting-aids” are used.
GUNMIXAID is a proven product for all guniting or concrete spraying jobs. It
- accelerates hardening
- waterproofs the mix and makes the applied layer more impermeable.
- Plasticises the wet mix.
GUNMIXAID is specially formulated to suit most cement mortar mixes. The reactive constituents of the product, combine with cement particles and result in accelerating the setting and hardening process. The gunited layer very quickly becomes rock hard.
An advantage of the product is that guniting rebound loss is reduced.
INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE
GUNMIXAID is suitable for guniting, which uses any general construction cement like OPC, PPC, PSC, SRC etc. GUNMIXAID should be added to the mortar / concrete mix in the ratio of 1 to 6 percent by cement weight, depending upon the desired rate of hardening. Age of the cement and its characteristics, cement content, temperature etc influence the rate of hardening. In special circumstances the dosage can be as much as 10%.
The admixture is to be added to the DRY cement-sand mix only and thoroughly mixed. No water should be added at this stage.
Water should come in contact only at the actual guniting stage that is at the nozzle. The mix when applied on a surface has much quicker setting and hardening and this factor needs to be kept in mind while job is executed.
Site trials are essential to fix the parameters like dosage; it would best be begun by taking about 3% admixture addition and suitably increasing / decreasing the level till the optimum setting time is obtained.
Cold and hot weather would call for the usual precautions as for normal concretes.
Note: The product is alkaline in nature. Suitable gloves and gogles etc. need to be used in actual
practice when using the product

It has a shelf life of 6 months when stored in original packing in a cool, dry place. Precaution to be taken during storage so as to avoid contact with water and moisture. |
