SELF-ADHESIVE WATERPROOFING MEMBRANES
Self-adhesive waterproofing membranes are thin layers allocated over a surface to prevent water from contacting other materials. Self-adhesive waterproofing membranes are mostly adhesive or laid on top of the material or structure they are supposed to protect.

User Guidelines
- Basement waterproofing
- Waterproofing of cut and covered tunnels, subways, metros, and caves.
- Other underground public constructions
- For waterproofing and protection of slabs and confined walls below ground
- Prevent coal gas, marsh gas, and methane leakage in the underground layer
- Resistant to seawater, chlorides, and alkali
- Chemical stability against common organic and inorganic acids, alkalis, salts, and organic solvents
- Saving cost and time
- No protection layer required
- Fast installation
- Excellent waste management
- Anti-sedimentation and anti-cracking
- It provides a complete barrier to water, moisture, and gas
- Cold applied, easy to install, does not require primer or fillet
- Solar reflection, being white in colour, thereby reduces temperature gain
- Smooth surface membrane
- Seals adhesively to concrete
- Highly chemical resistant, effective in all types of soils and waters
- Protect structures from chlorides, sulphates, and aggressive ground condition
- Excellent bonding with concrete applied on the membrane
- Low flatness requirement to a substrate; reliable overlapping; mechanical fixing, easy application
- Sound anti-puncture performance and adaptability to settlement and distortion
- SUNPRUFE membranes are supplied in rolls 1.2 m wide
- The membranes incorporate dual adhesive layers with coloured zip strips
- The strips are at the top and bottom of the seam area on the edge of the roll
- This enables even stronger bonded laps between adjacent rolls
- Both zip strips cover an aggressive adhesive
- Remove the zip strip on the top and the bottom of the membrane
- Once the strips are removed, a strong adhesive bond is achieved in the overlap area

User Guidelines
- Industrial and civil buildings, basements, and tunnels
- Underground pipe gallery, water conservation
- Deck waterproofing
- Excellent low-temperature performance, especially suitable for cold area applications
- Good weather resistance, tensile property, high elongation, wear resistance, and excellent workability
- Excellent adhesion to any vertical or horizontal surface
- Polymer-rich compound, an easy and strong seal on overlaps
- High mechanical strength and fatigue resistance properties
- No curing time instantly waterproofs the substrate
- Uniform thickness-eliminating likelihood of uneven application possible with a liquid-applied membrane
- The surface should be cleaned thoroughly of all contaminants
- Contaminants could be dust, traces of curing compound, oil, and grease
- Remove and repair all surface imperfections, protrusions, and structurally unsound and friable concrete
- The substrate must be moist but without stagnant water
- Sprinkle water over the substrate if too dry
- The application temperature should be between 5oC to 55o C
- Apply a primer coat of SUNBITUPRIME at the rate of 10 sq m per kg and allow it to cure for 6-8 hours
- On the primed surface, begin laying the membrane at the lowest point of the roof
- Gradually move towards the higher areas
- Unroll the membrane halfway, align the side laps
- Fix SUNPRUFE SBS membranes by applying uniform pressure with a roller/wet cloth
- The above application ensures the removal of entrapped air if any
- An overlapping joint shall be provided of 80-150 mm in the longitudinal direction
- Overlap joint shall be provided of 80-150 mm in the transverse direction
- For a trafficable roof, the SUNPRUFE SBS waterproofing system shall be protected
- Dose PCC with SUNPLEX of 50 mm thick tiles
- The tiles are loosely laid or fixed over a separation layer of spot bonded geotextile of 120/150 GSM

- With an overlap of 50-100 mm joined by point welding or a similar suitable method
- Lay SUNPRUFE PVC loosely laid on the horizontal surface over geotextile/protective felt
- Lay SUNPRUFE PVC with roundels on the geotextiles/protective felt over vertical or tunnel surfaces
- No perforation of the membrane shall be allowed
- Ensure that the membrane is laid with a signal layer toward the inside
- And with adequate slack to prevent over-stressing during concreting
- Provide overlap joints of 75 mm in both longitudinal and transverse directions of the SUNPRUFE PVC
- Make sure that joints are sealed properly with hot air welding only by a double weld
- Terminate SUNPRUFE PVC at the top of the parapet wall with a termination strip
- Fix it by screwing at 300 mm c/c
- All termination strips shall be sealed with a water lock sealant and topped up by a suitable sealant

FAQs
What is a self-adhesive waterproofing membrane?
To stop water from coming into contact with other materials, self-adhesive waterproofing membranes are applied in thin layers to a surface. For the most part, self-adhesive waterproofing membranes are applied adhesively or over the material or structure they are meant to shield.
