Case study of Usgaon Bridge in Goa

The Usgaon Bridge Project:

Usgaon Bridge is one of the landmarks of Goa, and it aims to improve connectivity and transportation in the region.

The structure needed refurbishment and security to maintain its strength and shear parameters and to stand against the marine belt.

It should ensure that the structures would be durable and can withstand harsh weather conditions, including heavy rainfall and high humidity.

Additionally, to ensure the project’s timely completion, the contractor required a coating material that they could apply quickly and efficiently.

The Application:

The contractors chose Sunanda Global‘s structural steel protection system to strengthen the service life of the Usgaon bridge because it had several advantages over other corrosion protection systems.

A galvanic anode was attached to the Bridge, preventing the steel from corroding. The entire Bridge was covered and protected with a two-component polyurethane coating.

Using a spray gun, the contractors applied the coating to ensure even coverage and a consistent finish. They left the polyurethane coating to cure for several days before opening the bridges to traffic.

The coating also helped to prevent corrosion and degradation of the bridges, ensuring their longevity and durability. Additionally, the easy application of the coatings helped to reduce labour costs and project time, resulting in a successful and timely project outcome.
