Hollow areas must be pressure grouted with a slurry of cement admixed with two pouches of SUNPLEX. Construction joints must be treated with polymer-modified mortar. Flood the entire terrace slab area with water for 48 – 72 hours and check for leaks on the underside after the initial treatment. Carry out further repairs if leakages are still seen.
Step 3
Allow the hydro-tested and prepared terrace slab to dry naturally. Prepare a slurry coating by combining 1 kg of Polyalk WP with 1 kg of cement. Ensure thorough mixing using a low-speed stirrer to achieve a lump-free consistency, without adding any water. Prepare only as much slurry as can be utilized within 30 minutes and apply it evenly on the bare slab using a brush.
Step 4
Wait for 24 hours after the first application, then proceed to apply a second coat of the freshly prepared POLYALK WP slurry coating, maintaining the same proportions as before.
Step 5
Allow the surface to undergo air curing for a period of 24 to 48 hours.
Step 6
Ensure the coating is cured by covering it with damp gunny bags for a duration of 4 to 5 days.
Step 7
After the curing process, flood the entire terrace to test the effectiveness of the waterproofing treatment applied. Treat leakages if any.
Step 8
Protect the waterproofing coating by laying a protective course of tiles, IPS, brickbat coba, or any other final finish. If applying IPS or brickbat coba, enhance the mortar mix, and add SUNPLEX (330 gm pouch) to every 50kg bag of cement used in the brickbat coba.
