Intumescent paints are used for passive fire protection. They can be applied using airless spray equipment for speed and quality finish, or you can use sizeable plural spray equipment. Brush and roller applications may also be preferred.

  • Multi-coat application: When the specified dry film thickness (DFT) exceeds 700 μm, apply multiple coats with a maximum wft of 700 μm per coat. Follow the recommended over-coating intervals between coats provided in the product's technical data sheet.
  • Drying time and over coating intervals: Local environmental conditions determine drying time and over coating intervals. For a total DFT greater than 2000 μm, allow a 24-hour over coating interval between each coat of SUNNOFLAME IP at all temperatures. The over coating time depends on the desired total DFT. Actual drying time varies based on air temperature, humidity, weather, ventilation, number of coats, and total DFT. Avoid water ponding.
  • Early exposure to moisture: Avoid exposing SUNNOFLAME IP to moisture, rainwater, high humidity, or condensation during the initial stages, as it can lead to defects like blistering and delamination.
