Yes, polyurethane (PU) is waterproof. It’s a polymer composed of organic units joined by urethane links, known for its excellent water resistance. PU is widely used in coatings, sealants, and foams for its ability to form a durable, flexible, and impenetrable barrier, effectively preventing water penetration and damage.
PU paint typically has good UV resistance, making it a popular choice for applications exposed to sunlight. Its formulation includes UV absorbers or stabilizers, which help in preventing color fading and degradation due to UV exposure. This makes PU paint suitable for outdoor furniture, coatings, and surfaces.
The lifespan of polyurethane waterproofing can vary, but it generally lasts between 10 to 15 years, depending on factors like the quality of the product, application method, environmental conditions, and maintenance.
