The famous Beverly Bridge between Vantage and Mattawa, headed by Washington State Parks, includes eliminating the wooden decking and replacing it with concrete slabs. The concrete slabs offer the benefit of creosote-treated materials leaching into the Columbia River. Due to the inclusion of concrete slabs, the bridge is less susceptible to fire and more environmentally friendly.
