The ONGC Convention Center Project
In South Goa’s ATI Campus at Betul, Oil and Natural Gas Corporation is developing one of the region’s most significant institutional facilities. The ONGC Convention Center, executed by VRC Constructions India Ltd. under Composite Works Package A at a construction value of approximately ₹440.03 Crore, is designed as a world-class venue for international conferences, exhibitions, trade shows, business summits, and large-scale corporate events.
The facility’s main auditorium seats 4,000 to 5,000 occupants, making it one of the largest convention venues in Goa. The broader complex includes an exhibition hall spanning approximately 6,669 sq. mtr., a Management Development Facility of approximately 8,353 sq. mtr. with a 182-seat secondary auditorium, 11 classrooms, conference rooms, breakout rooms, syndicate rooms, and office facilities, alongside VIP lounges, VVIP rooms, bilateral meeting rooms, dining facilities, administrative offices, entrance plazas, escalators, elevators, and advanced HVAC, fire safety, acoustical engineering, audiovisual, IT networking, surveillance, and sustainable infrastructure systems including solar PV and waste management facilities.
The Challenge
A facility of this scale operates under relentless pressure. Continuous public movement, heavy foot traffic, and high-impact operational loads across the convention center’s areas demanded a flooring system built for long-term performance. The specification was clear: the flooring had to withstand heavy foot traffic and impact loads, resist abrasion, mechanical wear, and chemical exposure, deliver a seamless and hygienic surface, offer easy maintenance and long-term durability, and enable fast installation and curing to keep the project on schedule.
The Application
Sunanda Global supplied SUNCRETE PU MF, a three-component, monolithic, seamless, moisture-insensitive polyurethane concrete flooring system applied by trowel. Developed specifically for demanding industrial and commercial environments, the system delivers exceptional abrasion resistance, impact strength, and chemical resistance while maintaining superior durability under heavy operational conditions.
Key properties of SUNCRETE PU MF
- Fast curing system minimizing installation downtime
- Excellent resistance to abrasion and impact
- High resistance to a wide range of chemicals
- Seamless and impervious flooring surface for easy cleaning and maintenance
- Hygienic finish cleanable to stainless steel standards
- Available in selected colors to enhance the working environment
- Ultra-low VOC formulation
- High flexural strength with excellent low-temperature performance
The substrate was mechanically prepared to remove dust, oil, grease, laitance, and loose particles to ensure proper adhesion. SUNCRETE PU MF components were mechanically mixed and applied as a scratch and primer coat over the prepared surface. The flooring system was then trowel applied and finished using a spiked roller to achieve a dense, seamless, and uniform surface finish across the operational areas.
The Result
SUNCRETE PU MF met the operational and performance requirements of the ONGC Convention Center’s high traffic areas. The flooring system delivered the abrasion resistance, impact strength, and seamless finish required for continuous public use while remaining easy to clean and maintain. Supported by Sunanda Global’s on site technical guidance, the installation was completed efficiently and in line with the project’s execution requirements.
Conclusion
The application of SUNCRETE PU MF provided a durable flooring solution for a high traffic public facility with demanding operational requirements. Its mechanical performance, seamless finish, and ease of maintenance supported the project’s long term functional objectives while demonstrating the importance of selecting flooring systems suited to the intended service environment.
