Wankhede Stadium Project:
The Wankhede Stadium is an international cricket stadium in Mumbai with a capacity of 33,108, following renovations for the 2011 Cricket World Cup. Before the upgrade, the stadium could withstand approximately upto 45,000.
The stadium witnessed numerous high-profile cricket matches, most memorably the 2011 Cricket World Cup Final, in which India defeated Sri Lanka and became the first country to win the world cup on home soil.
The stadium hosted the last match of Sachin Tendulkar’s international career. Ravi Shastri hit six sixes in an over in Wankhede stadium only.
The Application:
Sunanda Global was among the invited several suppliers to participate in the recommendation of waterproofing systems for this stadium.
Sunanda Global’s waterproofing coatings were applied in wet areas of the stadium, providing a water barrier and anti-carbonation coatings on the stadium’s concrete façade, which offers total resistance against damaging effects from the sun’s infrared and ultraviolet rays.
The contractor has also used anti-carbonation coatings of Sunanda Global for concrete members and all stadium seats.
Conclusion:
The anti-carbonation coatings of Sunanda Global utilized for this project are easy to apply to ensure a long-lasting waterproof finish.
